Third General Meeting
The third general meeting of the Spring 2014 semester was hosted by our wonderful secretary, Lily Richardson and began with candidates for next year's officer positions making themselves known. Afterwards we were treated to an amazing presentation from one of our adjunct professors, Oscar Solano. He spoke with us about his path through the engineering field, including following his passion for working for NASA and how that led to a DoD job. Shifting from his past to our collective future, Professor Solano presented us with some figures on how rare an engineering graduate in the U.S. is. The statistic that stuck with me the most after his presentation was following a total class of high school freshmen across the U.S. numbered 4 million and through making it to graduation, going on to college, choosing to pursue an engineering degree and actually finishing, the final number out of that 4 million was only 16,000. The lecture and subsequent Q & A was so much fun and so educational that we never made it to the planned project. (sorry)
All in all, a really fun and informative meeting!
